*This post is part of a paid partnership with Hotter shoes. I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited for the change in seasons than I have been this Spring. Lets face it, it was a very long and boring winter! Every year I get very excited to change up my wardrobe and get out and about more and this year more than ever I’m looking forward to seeing my favourite people outdoors, getting dressed up and making the most of life. My outfits for little trips outdoors usually feature my favourite dresses and some comfy shoes, so I can get my steps in, while also feeling and looking my best. Today I’m sharing a brand new pair of comfortable sandals that were recently sent to me by Hotter Shoes They’re the perfect addition to my wardrobe and they are definitely going to see me through lots of adventures and keep my feet comfortable on lots of lovely outings. This time I chose the gorgeous Tourist II Sandals. I choose them in a beautiful gold colour, which is super versatile and goes with almost everything. I’ve been having such a great time running my shop recently and sourcing and selling the most gorgeous vintage pieces every day is such a fun thing to do. It’s been a bit of a cold and gloomy Spring so far here in England, but I’m holding out hope for better days very soon and my latest offerings in the shop were chosen with warm summer days in mind. I adore the 60s and 70s and all the gorgeous colourful dresses and fabulous floral prints that never fail to make me smile. I love wearing lots of bright flowy dresses in the summer and I can’t wait to do a few more normal things this year and get a bit more dressed up to do them. Working from home and not doing very much has definitely limited my wardrobe choices somewhat. My latest collection named The Sunshine Collection, is a reflection of the hopeful happy summer I dream of. Today I wanted to share some of my favourite pieces from the shop at the moment. The collection ranges from a size 6 to size 22 and has a great selection of dress styles and colours. If anything takes your fancy […]

How to Measure Yourself For Vintage Clothes

Anyone who’s been buying vintage for a while will tell you to ignore the size on the label. For many reasons sizing has changed as lot, even when it comes to quite recent vintage. If you’re buying anything pre 1980 you can assume that you need to take about 2 sizes off the label. For example a vintage size 14 is more like a modern size 10. Anything post 1980 is about 1 size smaller so a 14 would fit more like a modern 12. For this reason most vintage sellers prefer to go by measurement and completely disregard the size on the label altogether. It’s really important to be able to properly measure yourself for vintage clothes. Today I thought I’d share a handy guide of how to measure yourself for vintage clothing. If you want to regularly shop for vintage it’s essential to have an accurate idea of your measurements, so you can make sure you know the garments will fit you once they arrive. Bear in mind that measurements are often for the garment rather than the body that will be wearing it, so you might want to go for clothes that are a teeny bit bigger […]

Hello my lovelies! I’m changing things up a little bit round here and have been putting lots of extra time and effort into the Vintage Frills Shop. I have also been working on lots of blog posts behind the scenes and will be having some really useful content coming your way very soon. I’ve decided that for the time being I’ll be doing stock drops every other Friday at 6pm on the shop. Although I love putting larger collections together, it’s really nice just putting together a few beautiful pieces and releasing them more often. Today I’m sharing all the lovely things that went live on the shop in the last week, although in future I’ll try and pop a blog post up beforehand. Most of my last few collections have been very dress based and oh my goodness, so many gorgeous dresses have gone to their new homes over the last few months. However this time I thought I’d focus mainly on jewellery, hair accessories and lingerie. Most of the pieces from this drop are from my own vintage collection, or things I’ve been holding onto for a while until I was ready to let them go. I often […]

It’s Slow Fashion Season!

First of all, how is it July already?! I can’t believe we’ve already made it halfway through 2021! There’s always lots going on in July, with the kids getting ready to finish the school year, me working extra hard to get work finished before they break up and of course it’s time for Slow Fashion Season! What is Slow Fashion Season? Slow Fashion Season is basically a 90 day pledge to buy no new clothing from July to September. It’s all about reusing what we already own, swaping or borrowing clothes or embracing preloved and second hand clothing. I already mostly shop second hand and vintage, so I always really enjoy taking part and seeing what everyone else is sharing online and making more of an effort to share my own second hand looks. It’s also a great opportunity to really think about our fashion choices and how they impact the planet and the people who live on it. It’s also a great chance to break habits and think differently about the way we buy and wear clothing. Before I go on, I just want to note that dressing sustainably isn’t always as accessible to everyone due to size, disability, […]

A Day in the Life of a Vintage Seller

Over the last couple of years I’ve been very much focussing on and working on the selling side of my vintage business. I sold vintage for a job long before I started this blog and recently I’ve really shifted my focus back to sourcing and selling gorgeous vintage treasure. Finding beautiful old things and sending them off to their new homes is such a huge passion for me and although it is really hard work I absolutely love what I do. I’ve been writing a bit more about this side of my business recently and have been really enjoying it. So I thought I’d do another post sharing some more of the behind the scenes of my job. There is so much that goes into running a vintage business and it’s definitely not as simple as just buying some clothes and slapping them on the internet! I’m sharing this as a day in the life, but honestly all days are different and no two look the same. But on a very busy day selling vintage these are some of the things I would do. Morning Sourcing I usually get up quite early and get the kids up, while they’re getting […]

I’ve said it many times, but I just adore the colours of Autumn. It really is the most gorgeous season. At it’s best the world is filled with gorgeous deep earthy tones and nature really does show off her best shades. And even on those dreary rainy days when all you want to do is stay in and be cosy there’s still magic to be found. I really enjoy dressing for Autumn, some of my favourite pieces of clothing capture the shades of the season. I recently released my brand new Autumn collection on Vintage Frills Shop and I’m completely obsessed with all the gorgeous colours. So today I thought I’d share my favourite colour palettes to give you a little vintage inspiration. Red Autumnal Colour Palette Autumn is all about warm reds and shades of maroon and Burgundy. These colours will see you through into winter and suit almost everybody. Warm earthy reds are much easier to wear than bright pillar box reds and more Christmassy tones and are really easy to mix and match with accessories. Go all out red or add accents of burgundy or maroon to other autumn coloured outfits. Pair your favourite red dresses with […]
